Interested in a ED LP Custom for sale...thoughts?

This guitar has come up for sale. I've been looking for a MIJ LP Custom. It's a little too far to drive, so I'd probably have to get it shipped if the seller is willing.

It appears to have a bolt-on neck, looks well used by the buckle rash on the back, but the top seems reasonable. Seller is asking for a fairly high price ($350) based on the going rule here that these are $150 to $250 CAN guitars.

I thought most 70s ED customs with the book headstock had diamond inlay? Any info about this one?






Alternatively, there is another ED custom available within an hours drive, for much much cheaper, but I prefer the tobacco finish on the above and prefer the bridge pickup on the above guitar. Any info about this black one for comparison against the tobacco one?

I'd haggle for the Tobacco burst one if it were me. What I like about the burst finish (other than how darn pretty it is) is you can see the wood of the body/cap and how many pieces it is (though it could be a veneer). With opaque finishes, it can sometimes be hiding multi-piece bodies/tops.

The guy selling the tobacco sunburst never would reply to my emails, I presume since I needed it shipped.

However, he has dropped his price to $225 if anyone is interested in the Ottawa area.

I actually found another tobacco sunburst custom only an hour a way and bought it yesterday for $265. I'll post pics in a day or two.

The guitar was in MINT condition. Seriously, looked brand new, I really don't understand how it could be in that kind of condition after 30+ years. If it wasn't for the fact that nobody fakes a guitar that they are going to sell for $265, I would have thought someone took a good condition Korean and slapped on a MIJ neck plate. It has a GIbson book/moustache head stock with large diamond logo so I'm pretty sure it's not from the Korean era.
