G'day eh?! New to this forum and like many of you, I joined to find out
what I can about my El Degas Classical. It's a CL-47 made in Japan.
SN 4090418. Someone wants to make a trade and I would like to place
some sort of value on this. Any help will be appreciated.

I see most of the CL- models going for anywhere between $50 - $150 in the ads around Canada, depending on condition.

Given the apparent build quality and age I'd suspect that this may have been a white-labeled Aria made at the famous Matsumoku plant (a very good thing!).

You won't find a direct one-to-one match but the design elements appear to be there, especially the headstock shape and the bridge/saddle. The obvious addition to yours is the inlay in the headstock which could have been taken from a different production run.

You might want to check Craigslist, Kijiji and eBay for Aria classical guitars for price comparison. Sadly though, the El Degas logo will not command the the same price.

Unfortunately, Barry, the market doesn't seem to discern a MIJ against a MIR (Made in Romania!) when it comes to these classicals.

Of course, laristotle could ask a premium for this one seeing that it is a MIJ model; but it's hard to say whether anyone will pay that premium.
