Pictures will have to wait since this baby needs mucho TLC... an then more TLC...

To tell the truth, the guitar scared me at first...

This baby seems to suffer the same faults as the early 70's Epiphone Semies... ( Made by Mats)the neck pocket caves in... This baby has about 1 1/2 inches action....Unplayable  Great if you want to play Robin Hood and use it as a bow!
Plus add all the usual, electronics to redo, pots in dire need of cleaning, all the plating tarnished... she looks old and not very appealing, falling apart.... Someone needs to put her out of her misery...

But!... I will not give up on the old gal

Spent the night watching Hockey (congrats Boston, you stole it...) and took her apart already. Will continue on her little by little. There is still some life left in the old gal...

more to come...

Godspeed, you saviour of broken-down ED's
I started ElDegas.com many years ago to help celebrate and inform about El Degas instruments. It all started with a used Ric 4000 bass copy I bought in circa 2000.

El Degas stable as of 03/2022: 42  (13 bass, 26 electric, 3 acoustic)

Interesting coincidence: there's an El Degas ES-330 right near me with the same problem. I've not seen that before and I couldn't figure out what caused it. Seller hasn't replied to my message yet:

How difficult a repair is it Pierre?

Hi Barry,

some you can fix but the one on your add has past the point of no return...

The main problem on theses is that they used plywood to reinforce the neck joint and for some reason its not strong enough. That guitar looks exactly like the one I just got but mine does not have that severe of a warp....

That guitar is good for parts....even for decoration sake, the neck would show real bad....

Here is a small peek at mine, did not take any pics yet...

After looking at it again, one could rout out the neck pocket and glue in a proper piece of wood... with some good braces, patience and imagination.... Who knows....

be prepared to lose $50 if it does not work out...

Lol...

I'm lucky mine was not that severe... 1 large popscicle stick cut in 3 pieces is all it took to make her play again... Will most likely make an entire maple neck pocket shim this weekend to make it more solid. Just testing the repairs out right now...Same stupid design on the Epiphone.... But this is not a Matsumoku guitar I can garanty it... I have several to compare with it and lots of differences, to many to be exact. These guitar are very close to Cimar brand ones... these were generic guitars used to slap any logo on the heastock just like all the rest of the white labels. The El Degas logo is printed ontop of the finish... I could rub it off in a few minutes if I would care to...

Nice guitar If... I can make her solid at the neck joint.... The Aria's dont suffer from this defect on the various 335 models , they are a better buy in my opinion....

My Idea of routing the neck pocket to install solid wood looks and sounds better and better...
