Re: Black El Degas Korean Strat circa early late 80's early 90's.

That would be the model number. I believe it's most common in later Korean models to sometimes find a label still attached to the back of the headstock with a model number. I seem to remember seeing it on photos of instruments with different body shapes (so, not just on Strat-shaped instruments). So...

Re: El Degas ED-500 Handmade Concert Classical Guitar

I was looking at that listing yesterday. Stunning guitar and looks to be in pristine shape. I have seen a LOT of ED classical guitar listings, but none that look as nice as this one. I am still a bit cynical at the asking price, but it's a fine looking instrument.

Re: Replacement tuners for el Degas Gibson SG style

You will likely find it easiest and most economical to replace the whole set of tuners. What I look for when replacing tuners is a similar/same method of mounting to the guitar (how many screws to affix them to the headstock,. and the same layout/configuration).

I've deleted the other thread for you.

Re: Wiring Diagrams for el Degas electric guitar

The wiring for the Les Paul and SG copies are generally the same as any you will find in the wild (unless there are extra phase or coil tap mini switches or other additions made to them). Sites such as StewMac have plenty of diagrams available online.

Re: Replacement neck for Les Paul

I think your best bet might be to find another El Degas and pilfer the neck from it.

Re: Later El Degas P-bass without the switch ?

No switch i the catalog pic.

If the bass you have never had Dimarzios there would be no reason to have a switch (the pickups would not support a coil tap or coil split).

Some of them got it right. Some... did not!

Hence why a Burny, Orville, or Univox is more highly sought after than an ED, in my opinion. As much as I love my highly curated stable of ED's, they can be quirky!

Re: Later El Degas P-bass without the switch ?

Interesting one. You don't see a lot of natural Precision bass EDs out there. Pickups: I would wonder whether those are Dimarzios, unless you replaced/painted the covers - it seems they were putting the ones with cream covers on back then because those immediately stood out as being "upgraded&q...

Re: My Grandfather's GB28

Lovely! The GB-28 is a copy of the Gibson J-200 Super Jumbo. Yours is a MIJ (Made in Japan) model. Estimated to be from the mid to late 70s; but that's all just an educated guess. (The serial number system tells us nothing, as all info on it has been lost to time). This model came in both the sunbur...

That appears to be a Japanese model (based on the headstock logo style); likely mid 1970's

It really is pretty.

I would be tempted to toss an offer but honestly I have no idea what price would be appropriate, and my other 995 gets almost 0 play as it's just not quite appropriate for most of the stuff I play.

Re: Acquired an El Degas 995-WR. Need help finding details about it!

I own one of these, the 995-TS (Tobacco Sunburst). Decent guitar. I think I got mine for a few hundred bucks when I bought it several years ago. It appears to be a copy of a Gibson ES-175D (I believe the D is for dual-pickup ). Yours is the wine red model, hence the WR in the model nomenclature. The...

I think that has been the general consensus. I never make promises to people about the manufacturer of their instruments when they ask, however.
