New El Degas Show and Tell

Hey guys, been awhile since I've posted here but as you all know, life gets busy. Hope all is well with everyone. So, since I've last been around I've added a few EDs to my collection. I've posted two on here before, but because of some OCD I'll be including those here. I have trouble with embedded ...

El Degas Les Paul (Studio?)

Merry Christmas! Under the tree this year, I got a El Degas Les Paul! My girlfriend found it for me at a yard sale in November, and hid it from me until Christmas. What a nice gift! Here I am, actively searching for a new ED to add to my collection for over a year, and she finds one without trying! ...

Re: El Degas Studio - Good?

Sadly, the deal did not come through! :( Such a shame, as I really fell in love with the design. Oh well, until next time! Thanks for the help, fellas!

El Degas Studio - Good?

Well, here I come to the only reputable source of El Degas information, with some questions about a late 70's El Degas Studio. I can't seem to find any concrete info on it, so hopefully you guys can help. A gentleman in my town has a "late 70's El Degas Studio" in "spectacular shape, ...

Re: GB 25 Dove Acoustic

Hey Chuck, beautiful instrument. An acoustic ED is on my hit list. I used to see acoustic ones all the time in town before I became interested in them, and now that I am they are AWOL. Oh well, treasure yours! Anyways, in the event you are potentially interested in a custom pick guard, Terrapin Guit...

Re: Matsumoku / Greco / el Degas Connection?

So if your suspicions are correct, there is potential for the manufacturer of some EDs to be the same as older Epis.... Intriguing. I have a mid eighties Epi Les Paul. Chances as slim as they are, wouldn't it be neat if the stars aligned and it was made by the same folks who made my ED SG? A pipe dr...

Re: ED300 Classical on eBay

I'm by no means a huge classical guitar fan, but I do enjoy playing them on occasion and I certainly wouldn't mind an ED classical. It just stuck me so odd that an ED was selling at that price; never before had I considered one could go for that, so I had to know more. Thanks guys. Good to know info...

Re: ED300 Classical on eBay

" This listing was ended by the seller because there was an error in the listing. " Interesting. Wonder why that happened. Doesn't look like it sold, in any case. Wasn't quite aware of this side of El Degas' history. Got me thinking... Is that really a reasonable price for a guitar like th...

Re: Is a MT4 a decent El Degas?

Thanks guys. Think I may give it a shot and arrange to get it. I wasn't sure what copy design it was. I think the fact its a Martin copy sold me; have a soft spot for Martins. Good to know how those designations work. We'll see what shape it is in if I manage to grab it. I'll post some pictures as s...

Is a MT4 a decent El Degas?

Hey guys, how you all doing? I have the opportunity to get a MT4 acoustic for real cheap. Reeeeaaal cheap. Well, as cheap as they come... :D Anyway, I was curious if the MT4 is a decent guitar. The only reason I ask (who doesn't love a cheap guitar?!) is because I can't see or touch it first, and it...

Re: End of another phase of my life

Sorry to hear, Barry. Not a fun thing to experience. I can relate to the lack of interest in this aspect of music. Where I live, four of the six music shops specializing in piano/guitar have closed down in the past year or two, including the two my father and I both frequented in a combined 40 years...

Re: My new (old!) El Degas SG

Thanks for the replies, folks! Start off by saying, the more I play it, the more I like it. Thinking it might be a keeper. I wheel and deal old, odd, knockoff and rare guitars all the time, and only keep the ones I really like. I regret selling a few, like that '71 Gemtone, however... Anyways, Raisi...

My new (old!) El Degas SG

Hi all! I've recently purchased a El Degas SG copy. The gentlemen I bought it off of, a retired music teacher, said it was a mid 70's model that was completely stock, the only thing being changed to his knowledge was, of course, the strings. He bought the guitar in 1990 in an antique music shop in O...
